Andreas Gerber-Grote, MD, PhD

Since May 2016 Andreas Gerber-Grote is Dean of the School of Health Professions at the School of Health Professions, Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). He also acts as Vice-President of Research and Development and member of the board of management at ZHAW. Furthermore, he holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor at the Medical School of Zurich University.

Andreas Gerber-Grote is a Protestant theologian and a physician. He is holder of an MD in immunology from University of Hamburg and a venia legend (Habilitation, similar to a PhD) from University of Cologne. In addition, he earned degrees in religion from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, and in health economics from University of Cologne.

Andreas Gerber-Grote has a track record of 60+ peer-reviewed publications and 100+ presentations at national and international conferences (including more than 50 invited or keynote presentations). His major scientific achievements are he in child care, health services research, methods in health economics.

Andreas Gerber-Grote is elected active council member and treasurer of EPA/UNEPSA, the European association of national paediatric associations. In this function he proactively forwards issues of public child health.

Among his latest achievements are a newly established PhD program “Care and Rehabilitation Sciences” based at the Medical School of University of Zurich and open for health professionals that he conjointly leads with Prof. Claudia Witt, MD, PhD. In cooperation with the Medical School of University of Zurich, the Zurich University Hospital, and other educational institutions in the Zurich metropolitan region, his engagement in improving interprofessional education resulted in the establishment of the Zurich Interprofessional Ward (ZIPAS = Zürcher Interprofessionelle Ausbildungsstation).
