Tudor Lucian Pop is working as Consultant in Paediatrics and Paediatric Gastroenterology and Associate Professor in Paediatrics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iuliu Hatieganu Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from where he graduated in 1995.
His clinical work is in the field of Paediatric Gastroenterology, mainly in Hepatology. He obtained the PhD studying the autoimmunity associated with chronic viral hepatitis in children. The main research areas are cholestasis, hepatitis, metabolic liver disorders (Wilson disease and other rare liver diseases), acute liver failure and non-invasive evaluation of the liver. He is the coordinator of the Centre of Expertise in Paediatric Liver Rare Disorder in Cluj-Napoca. He is active in Social Paediatrics, teaching also the course of Maternal and Child Health at Cluj School of Public Health, Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
He is the author of a book on Cholestasis in Children, a textbook in Paediatrics and rehabilitation in children and several book chapters, author/co-author of 70+ articles published in peer-reviewed international and Romanian journals and 300+ papers presented at paediatric congresses.
He is the President of the Romanian Society of Social Paediatrics and General Secretary of the Romanian Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and of the Paediatric Associations of the Balkan. Since 2019 he is acting as member of the Council and Chairman of the Scientific Educational projects committee of EPA-UNEPSA.
